Oooh man, Webcomics. Don't get me started. Though I've never read GC, at my peak I was keeping up with nearly 200 comics. Many have died out and because of my own lack of time I havn't kept up with several more, but here's the creme of the crop as far as the best comics go.
In no particular order...
Dead Winter - A Zombie Apocalypse
www.deadwinter.cc/index.htmThis one follows the story of a wanna-be writer waitress as she chronologues the survival of her and her companions... though there are more deaths than survivors. Definately worth looking into, this one updates weekly with new pages of Zombie awesomeness.
Union of Heroes - Parallel Photocomic
www.unionofheroes.com/I subscribe to a few photocomics of adoration, this being one of them. Not your Surviving the World by far, this one follows our main character, Marc, who is contacted by The One Who Knows to be informed that in a parallel universe he has the alter-ego of a superhero. Said superhero has gone missing, and now Marc has to take his place in order to find out what's happened to him, and stop this dastardly scheme! M/W/F updates.
Freak Angels - World Apocalypse caused by angsty superpowered teens.
www.freakangels.com/The world abandoned them, so they destroyed the world. Six years later they're working to atone for their actions by keeping the small town of Whitechapel running with food, clean water, and modest medicines. The art here is excellent, the story complex and the characters of great depth. Updates weekly with 6 or so pages, and is available to buy in paperback or hardcover!
The Zombie Hunters - Looting never Looked so good.
www.thezombiehunters.com/index.phpScrew you. I like Zombies.
Again, the world has collapsed from the Zombie outbreak! People are separated into two groups: the non-infected and the infected. Able to co-exist to some degree, the infected are almost always kept away from the non-infected, but they also have a few other special freedoms. They can become scavangers, a Government job that lets them explore the wastelands and bring back food, clothing, medicine and goods for the people that live inside the walls... and whatever they can sneak back in past quarentine.
Bite Me! - Vampires in Revolutionary France. Down with the Monarchy!
www.bitemecomic.com/A Vampire story of a different kind. Not bloodthirsty or lovey-dovey, this comic defies most classification. Anarchist barwench accidently turned Vampire, an incideous plot and Revolution! A hilarious, light-hearted, and excellent read for certain.
Family Man - A werewolf webcomic extraordinare!
lutherlevy.com/The uncompleted sequel to
Bite Me!, Family man follows the werewolf character introduced there, namely his backstory and life leading up to everything. An intellectual and a scholar who... well, the front page really has the best description I could think of. Take a look!
Kagerou - And you thought
your Gods were needy...
electric-manga.com/This comic is amazing. Few words can descibe it. Read it, read it now! Soon to be in dead-tree format!
Lackadaisy - Swing'n Cats bootlegging the Prohibition
lackadaisy.foxprints.com/index.phpFor the furfans out there, this is one that's nothing short of a must-read. This comic is the
berries! Saint Louis Speakeasies in the 1920's are a tough business with even tougher competition, and you never know when an old friend will show up to stab you in the back...
It's 3am. More later.
